LGBTQ community in Seattle, WA, is mourning the tragic death of a beloved member who tragically passed away on Monday .
Kiara also know as Carlos, according to their friend, was found dead after leaving a suicide note on July 27. According to reports, their body was found after jumping from Red Square in the University of Washington on Monday night.
The beloved transgender was pronounced dead in what law enforcement is investigating as a death by apparent suicide. A close friend to the deceased shared the heartbreaking news on Reddit while seeking for help locating their friend now identified as Kiara or Carlos.
“My friend posted a suicide note and can’t be found, their phone was found on the UW campus. Please let me know if you’ve seen them.”
“They would answer to the names Carlos or Kiara. None of our friends can find them. Please please please tell me if you have seen my friend I am so scared for them. I wasn’t sure what flair to use so I posted under news, mods if I need to repost with different flair please let me know.”
In a statement from UW Alert, officials noted that the individual was not affiliated with the University. (Kiara was NOT a student of the University of Washington.)
“UW police are asking for students, faculty, staff and visitors to avoid Red Square until further notice due to an emergency response near Kane Hall. A person who is not affiliated with the UW apparently died by suicide this morning. Police do not believe there is any threat to the community.”
